Farnborough Air Show
I'm not really complaining, not much, because it is supposedly good for our town, but Farnborough Air Show starts tomorrow
It will be very difficult to drive around, into or out of our town for the next week because of extra traffic and traffic restrictions, and the noise is incredible.
Yes, we look at the planes (hard not to when they're only a few metres above our heads) and fortunately most animals seem to become accustomed to the row, and deep inside many people are proud of our week in the spotlight, but .......
I shall be glad when, a week tomorrow, it will all be over!
That's got my grizzle off my chest.

Must admit, though, that I'm not an airplane sort of person. They bore me rigid!

Parking for the airshow exhibitors and attendees is well catered for, so it's not too much of a problem for us locals, thankfully!

Re: Farnborough Air Show
I understand exactly.
I have the grand prix at the end of the street at work every year & though these events are great for the local economy.....it makes life difficult for the locals for some weeks before & after.
I have to drive 20 mins extra to get around the track when every other day the track at Albert park lake IS my road to work!
& the noise..... I cant even talk to clients on the ph without, zooooom, zooom!

I feel your pain. We have the Buffalo bike rally here every year. Loads of drunk bikers driving like idiots ... sigh. Supposedly brings a big cash boost but we can't really feel it.

Our last real nuisance was Elton John, performing at the cricket ground! Now that was torture!
I actually thought it was karaoke night at the pub down the road, it was so horrendous!

Re: Farnborough Air Show
When I was in my teens I liked him, but that was around the 'Lady Samantha' days. I saw him live at a small venue in about 1972-ish. He sang to me & gave me a cup of wine. I was over the moon! I kept that cup for ages, goodness knows what happened to it - if I'd have kept it, it'd worth a small fortune now!

Oh how infuriating Caryll. The stuff I've had that has disappeared over the years and if I had it now would be worth a fortune

Ah Dave, I'd forgotten you have visited our lovely airfield!
I was replying to Caryll from a local's pov as exhibitors and visitors are all channelled off to parking places (including the polo fields which are vast) so we don't get too many cars parking along our roads.
I'll concede that it probably is a nightmare leaving your parking place when everyone else is too and getting onto the A325 which is always busy anyway with local traffic (we need to go places too!). I am allowing an extra half hour to and from Aldershot tomorrow for my physio appointment and it's only a trade day. This weekend it is public days and, like most locals, I won't even attempt to go anywhere!

I'll have the advantage that I'm not trying to get out of the airfield, just round it!
