Don't know if anyone else has a membership, but i went the other day and noticed ours now stock this huuuge tub of coconut oil it's just over 1.5kg and is just £11.99, which considering how much a little tub costs is a bargain!

I get the KTC one which is 500ml for £3.79. It's not organic but it is good quality big grin

I use Costco and the coconut oil all the time, even sell it on to the locals. KTC is only really good for external applications such as on the dogs coat, refined oil as in KTC has not much if any nutritional value for internal use.

It's great for Dempsey's paws. During the summer, he gets grass allergies and licks them raw!

Is KTC over refined, then?

We use organic, extra virgin, cold pressed for Dempsey.

KTC is refined which takes a lot of the nutritional value away, hence the cheaper prices. Even health shops are fooled by this as one sold a jar of KTC oil to a friend of mine telling her it was pure natural organic as it says 100% natural on the label, how can heating and refining it be natural. Cold pressed virgin oil is far superior

Here's a bit about refining, no 7 on the list is one of the brands that's sold at Costco

Cold pressed extra virgin is the one I'll always recommend. Unfortunately, Demps has an extremely sensitive stomach due to an operation he had, so he can't handle daily doses of it.

Started him off with an eighth of a teaspoon of it, which gave him a bad stomach. Gave him time to recover, then gave him a tiny smear of it, which again upset his stomach after a couple of days. So we usually just give him very small amounts with his food on the odd occasion, which seems to suit him better.

I used it on his pads last winter, as they'd gotten very cracked and sore. Within a week, he was back to his normal self. Can't recommend the stuff enough! happy

We've also used it in Dempsey when he's scraped himself or had the odd sore spot- worked a treat!

Yes it's great on sore paws and skin, if it upsets dog's tummies try pumpkin seeds to settle it down

And another thing, there's no such thing as "extra virgin" coconut oil, it's VIRGIN
They use the term for olive oil and that's where the misleading phrase extra virgin comes from, it's virgin or it isn't,simple as that!
Makes it sound better on the tub though, so it's purely a marketing sales technique and doesn't make the oil any better than virgin oil by being called extra virgin oil, it's the same stuff.
