Made Demps yelp!

His own fault, the daft boy! Was clipping one of his dewclaws, as it was starting to curl towards the pad, and he suddenly jerked his paw. Must have pulled his claw slightly, as he let out a sad little squeak!

Knew I hadn't cut the quick, as I'm always very careful with it. He has sensitive dewclaws, though, as he used to break them a lot, so that's probably why he squeaked. He jumped down from the sofa and scampered off, then poked his head back around the corner with big, sad eyes and a waggy tail.

He's actually surprisingly good with having his claws done. He doesn't like it, so he fidgets a lot, no matter how firmly you restrain him. But all he really does is twitch his paws around and sniff your hand.

Ohhhh, poor bub. Has he forgiven you now?

He was over it within five minutes!

Tyson doesn't get over it for 5 hrs, Jess, like Dempsey moves on very quickly.

He usually sulks, depending on how badly he was hurt, anywhere from a minute to half an hour.

Mine get a little treat for being good during nail clips, ear cleans, teeth cleaned, being flipped around for tick checks etc, etc, etc. Tyson now believes if I do something to jess.... if he sits nicely watching patiently.... he gets a treat by proxy.

Demps gets a treat, broken into small pieces, but if he expects it, he fidgets more, so he usually gets a treat immediately before his claw is clipped.
