Demps had his extraction done
Poor little boy. The surgery went fine, thankfully. He's feeling so sorry for himself though! Just got him home and he can barely walk without staggering. He had to be carried in from the car and now he's laying on the floor, whining sadly.
On the plus side, the vet said he's absolutely lovely. I feel a bit bad because I was so surprised that she said that. He's terrified of the vets and was worse than usual today when we took him in, so I thought he might have been a bit grumpy. Obviously not!
He's due back in two days for a check-up. When he feels better, I'm going to take a Thank You card down to the vets for always taking such good care of him.

Re: Demps had his extraction done
Oh Dempsey, bless you. You'll feel SO much better tomorrow.
Co-incidentally, we met up with one of Kuchar's best friends tonight, a Border terrier called Barney. Recently, Barney collided heads with a collie whilst going after the same ball, and broke a tooth which had to be removed. Kuchar and Barney rough and tumbled as happily as ever (although he won't go near the collie now!)

Re: Demps had his extraction done
He does seem to be feeling a bit better. He's wagging his tail now and most of the whining has stopped. Still very dopey, but he's had his painkillers already, so that's probably why. He also has a very swollen face. He seems to like his Buster collar though, so that's good!
As I was typing that, the poor thing just started whining.

Re: Demps had his extraction done
I typed out a long post this morning with his progress, and it's disappeared! Never mind...
He had a bowl of watered down milk this morning (he wouldn't drink plain water & I wanted to get some liquid into him), and some boiled fish and scrambled egg with his meds, which he LOVED!!
Still not quite right, but a lot better than last night.

Glad he's doing good.
Our dogs act very different when we're not there. Axel will not let anyone put him in or take him out of the vet cages if I'm anywhere near. Moment I'm gone he's all meek and mild and does what the vet wants.

Re: Demps had his extraction done
The vet today was the one who saw him on Tuesday before the op. She remembered how scared he was to come into the vet, so she very kindly saw him in the garden instead. He was a perfect little angel while she checked him over. And she said that she knew that he likes cuddles, so I'm guessing he got a lot of them while he was there on Tuesday.
He has another appointment next Thursday to make sure everything's going smoothly.

....incessant licking! Drives me insane!
He got over it, though. He had his first full walk since Monday, this morning, so he's knackered!

Re: Demps had his extraction done
I think his legs look too short for his body in that picture! Bless him.
I assumed he'd heal in about a week. Although the extraction site itself probably hasn't totally healed yet, he's completely back to his old self. Poor thing keeps trying to do his mad spinning sessions, but we have to stop him in case he knocks his head on something.

Re: Demps had his extraction done
It doesn't seem to bother him at all. The only time he showed any mouth discomfort was when he head butted my oh!

Everybody was so worried about Dempsey being hurt, nobody took any notice of my oh!

Nope, I specifically remember you telling me about it when I got up in the morning. It was just you and dad. And if I'd only just gotten out of bed, James definitely wasn't awake!
