Re: Riddles
Now this is a first, I've never solved a riddle in my life - I am terrible at them! So I don't know any and don't have the turn of mind to invent one. Here's my best effort - it's not really a riddle :-
Where are the Andes?

Re: Riddles
So am I!
Hmm... One the end of your armies?
If that's the right answer, it's only because I think I've heard it before!

Re: Riddles
A dog is on a 20 foot chain. The chain is made of metal and is too strong to break. There are no humans around to help. 25 feet away is a bowl of food. How does the dog reach the food?

Re: Riddles
It's a big dog. He goes to the end of his chain, lies down and with hind feet drags the bowl nearer to him.
Pfft.
Give up!

Re: Riddles
No, but I like your thinking!
Answer: The other end of the chain isn't attached to anything. He gets up and walks over to the bowl.

Aaargh! Is this where lateral thinking comes in? I haven't got any so no wonder I'm rubbish at riddles.
It was a good one though - a kick yourself one.

Oooh Eleanor - I've just remembered one! It's an oldie but a goodie and I'll bet you'll all get it in one, but can I float it? (I know I'll never solve any more riddles!)

Re: Riddles
Thank you! this will be my last ever riddle:-
A man and his son were involved in a dreadful car crash. The man was killed outright but his son was still living and was rushed to the operating theatre at the local hospital. The surgeon entered the operating theatre and said "that's my son!"
Who was the surgeon?

Re: Riddles
I know this one! It was a part of my analysis for an English paper in A Levels! I don't want to spoil it though, so I'll leave it for somebody else.

I couldn't think of an answer when I first heard it! Kicked myself afterwards for being so narrow minded and thick!
