Police Department refuses to let cancer stricken dog retire

This is just disgusting!!

and then they rip him away from his person. Poor dog!

That's astounding. It's animal cruelty and neglect. I don't understand why they think it's acceptable, considering it's against the law to knowingly withhold medical care from a domesticated animal in need of it.

Words fail me!

I did some more checking up and the police department says they will decide what the dogs future is after a medical checkup as their vet says the dog doesn't have cancer like the handlers vet said.

Huh. Weird! I wonder if there'll be a follow up news story!

So far there has been no news and everyone is still waiting for the medical results.

Poor dog.

You get the feeling that he is being used as some sort of pawn or 'test case'.

From one article I read they're insinuating it has to do with money and the costs to train a new dog. Cheaper to just work this one off it's feet.

One way or another, the dog shouldn't be working. At least until they've gotten the test results back!

Karr has been retired but not with his last handler. He's still trying to get the dog.

What?! So they've retired him anyway, but won't give him to his handler? That just sounds vindictive to me!

Part of it is. He's made a public spectacle of the whole issue so now they're getting back at him. The dog has gone to the original trainer as supposedly the dog was there for longer than with the last handler.
People can be so petty.

That's just pathetic. They should be ashamed of themselves.
