Re: My birthday gift
I've wanted one for probably 10 years but they're rare in South Africa.
And it actually only all came together this morning.
I happened across the advert.
I emailed and asked if there was a boy. She said yes and he's available. I asked her all the trick questions, they check out, I asked if I could have him and now he's mine.

Re: My birthday gift
I don't think I've ever seen one over here, either, except for at shows! One of them got very personal with my arm once.
This probably goes without saying, but we demand pictures as soon as you get him!
I love those names! Especially Caesar.

Re: My birthday gift
It does, thank you.
Only sad thing is that their tails are docked
I love a waggy tail ... he'll have a waggy stubby.

Re: My birthday gift
Supposedly he's a arrogant little shite. He throws a fit when he doesn't get his way and as the biggest of the lot he bullies his brothers and sisters.
He's in for a rude awakening when he lands here

That's a shame! Docking's illegal in the UK now, except fir working dogs.
I much prefer to see a waggy tail!

Re: My birthday gift
Docking is strange here. It's 'illegal' and considered animal cruelty but can be done with no repercussion by vets.

Re: My birthday gift
Strange!
Here, you can't show a docked dog unless it has been certified as a 'working' dog and even then it can't be shown at any show that charges an entrance fee for the public - ie the vast majority of championship and some open shows!

Re: My birthday gift
He is a cute little wiggly worm. The breeder has sent me loads of videos.
I had to go look up the info again.
Here the Kennel Union frowns on docking tails but as there is no law prohibiting it, dogs are allowed to be shown. The Veterinary Council has declared it illegal for vets to dock tails but again as there is no law prohibiting it they can't really do anything about it.
South Africans love docking tails for some reason.
I adore all my happy wagging tails. Missy has her tail and has won 2 fun dog show waggy tail contests with it. I just need to look at her or say her name and it goes a mile a minute. She would look wrong without it; even though it's a thin ratty looking tail and she has a bare patch from it always knocking on things.

Re: My birthday gift
Docking is illegal here now but I must say I do like it on big dogs & some specific breeds, or those larger ones that live inside. Though it it not nesseccary for any medical reason apart from trauma.... we now live by a 40 cm rule in my house for all things on the coffee table.
Boofa & Zac wagged their stumps & ass... Jess distroys everything when she is wagging her tail.

Re: My birthday gift
I won't bore and/or antagonise everyone again with my opinions about docking tails for certain breeds!
What I will say is - what's done is done, and Bruno is a "cute little wiggly worm" of a pup (would love to see those videos!). And he will not grieve about not having a longer tail.
I'll bet you're counting the days, Theresa!
