I've finished!

Hardest assignment of the year is now done and submitted!

I'm also tired and ill, but can't go to bed until past midnight, as the results of my previous assignment are going to be released at 23:59 tonight! Pfft. I swear, they do this just to annoy us!

So?

The group assignment got a C. I have mixed feelings about it, tbh. I was expecting a D-, due to problems with one of the group members, so a C is a relief. But the marking lecturer noted that we would have gotten an A, if not for the following things:

- The presentation overran the time limit
- The slides on slaughter had out-of-date references, focussed too much on one method of slaughter and relied too heavily on information taken from an RSPCA website.

Both of these problems stemmed from one very inconsiderate group member, who I complained about on here at the time. She left her allocated part of the assignment until the very last minute, at which point I had to do a lot of the research for her, so that she could include it on the slides. Even then, she didn't reference any of the work, despite being reminded repeatedly to do so. At the last minute, she threw in some RSPCA references. On the day of the presentation, we also didn't have time to run through it properly and ensure that our time was managed properly; she had forgotten to submit her peer review and spent the better half of the two-hour session we'd planned to go through the presentation, completing her work.

But still, a C is better than I expected. So I'm happy with it!

Well done - I used to hate group assignments.

I can't stand them! Doing another one at the moment, with the same group. The other two girls are fine; it's just the one girl, who doesn't take it seriously. We've deliberately started it early, as we predicted that she would do a repeat of last time. Surprise, surprise, she's been dragging her feet all the way through it.

For now, though, I'm focussing on Tuesday's TCA. Fun!

Eleanor, I pleased you're pleased. But it really is very unfair that one lazy mare is allowed to drag down the score for you hard-working others. For your sakes I would advise you gang up on her and take it in turns to kick her backside - hard

Well, words were exchanged between the two of us on Wednesday, via text. She hadn't turned up to Monday's lectures, when our group had planned a meeting to discuss our current group assignment. We were already annoyed at that, as she hadn't even bothered to contact us to let us know she wouldn't be in. Because she wasn't there, she also didn't get the memo that Wednesday's lectures were cancelled. So she turned up on Wednesday and couldn't find the rest of the group, then proceeded to have a go at me via text. My phone had crashed earlier that morning, so I finally opened up my phone to a barrage of moody, rude texts from her. I kept my cool and just told her to chill out, among other things. She then had the cheek to explain away her rudeness by saying, "I just didn't want to be accused of not pulling my weight again." As if the accusation wasn't justified!

I stopped answering in the end, as I would prefer to have a conversation like that face-to-face. But I'll be raising it with her on Monday.

We'll see how it goes.

Oh Eleanor, she doesn't deserve her place on this course. She CERTAINLY shouldn't be allowed to drag the rest of you down because of her behaviour. Do please, the rest of you en masse, discuss this with your course tutor (or whatever their title is). She should NOT be allowed to jeopardise other hard-working peoples' futures, and I'm amazed that your college/uni allows it.

Sorry Eleanor, but there is something very wrong here and I feel furious on your behalf.

We did have a word with our course manager during the last presentation, who advised us to fill out the peer review, which we each had to do, as honestly as possible. Myself and the two group members I get along with have the same grade, but the lazy group member was capped at a D-.

If she continues this on Monday, the plan is to politely ask her to consider whether or not she really wants to be a part of this group, and then go from there.

I'm quite calm about it now, as I think the rest of us are prepared to deal with it now. Before, we just didn't know what was going to happen. We assumed that she'd done the work, as she said she had, and was just taking her time in sending it through to us. Friendships aside, she can't be allowed to drag down the grade again. Although if friendship and common decency means anything to her, she won't put the rest of the group in the position where we need to ask her to leave the group. Personally, I'd sooner not do that, as I'm the type of person who would carry that around on my conscience afterwards.

Don't let it weigh on your conscience Eleanor, she's got to shape up or ship out - end of.

I said more than that earlier today. I don't remember the last time I was that angry at somebody, but I was close to hitting her.

I'm not sure there's really been much of a result yet. She thought that the appropriate way to resolve the issues we've had was to give the rest of the group the silent treatment, despite the fact that we need to work on our group assignment. Once she finally started talking, she had the cheek to accuse me of causing her grade to be lowered, as I didn't give her a perfect peer review.

Will see if I can get a chance to talk to her later, after the TCA. Right now, I think there's a lot of tension just because of the TCA. Hopefully, it'll ease up once we've gotten it over and done with.
