Idiot Mothers
Took Dempsey out for his afternoon walk about 3:30pm. As we left the house a woman with 3 kids passed by. One of the kids, about 18 months old, went straight up to Dempsey and shoved his face right into his!
The woman did nothing!
How could she know whether or not Dempsey likes kids?

Re: Idiot Mothers
Yes it was silly. But I most often get the opposite reaction - clucking like a mother hen, come here come here stay away from the dog - despite my reassurances.
If their children grow up afraid of man's best friend it's not my or Kuchar's fault.

It's good that the child was not afraid - not so good that it's mother is an idiot.

Re: Idiot Mothers
Luckily Dempsey loves children, but he's so over the top with them - he spins, bounces & head butts!
I'm more than happy for kids to approach him (with my & their parent's permission) but I have to keep their heads away from his. I get a lot of kids round here asking to stroke him (a lot of adults as well) & he loves it, but I always tell them to keep their heads away! He could have really hurt a toddler like that, and of course he would have been blamed.

Re: Idiot Mothers
When Morgan was around two we were sat in an exhibition tent at Newbury show, where we were talking to people about agility. A young child, who stood no taller than Morgan sat down, ran off from her parents, made a bee-line for Morgan and flung her arms around her neck. My heart was in my throat - Morgan is not used to the company of children - she's only really seen them from a distance. Luckily, she took it all in her stride - it could've gone so wrong! (If it'd been Tristan, it would've).
I bet a head butt from Dempsey leaves bruises

Even when you warn them to be careful or that your dog bites they don't listen.
Pugsley will allow strangers to pet him but if you take your hand away he jumps and bites. Hard. Do you think people listen to me? They just say: Oh, no! Dogs don't bite me. They love me.
It was even worse with Dozer as he straight on jumped for your throat if you bent to pet him. Treacherous dog would smile and wag his tail at you making your think it was safe to pet him. People just wouldn't listen and leave him. I had to always physically get in the way.

And if something happens it's always the dogs fault not the 'higher evolved' human that should know better.

Re: Idiot Mothers
With an animal as common as a dog, you'd think people would make a bit of an effort to learn how to respond to them.
