FINALLY! 
I've been trying for ages to tell people that dogs are not proven to be directly descended from wolves, but rather a common ancestor leading to wild dogs, but nooooooo! They all insist they're descended from grey wolves!

Dogs & wolves probably have interbred many times over the millenia, but both may have descended from a common ancestor, rather than dogs evolving directly from wolves.
