We got to suntan yesterday.
The wind was blowing from the right (wrong?) side so the deck at the back of the house was so sunny and cozy.
Spread the dogs duvets out and we had a lovely snooze in the sun.
Of course Axel got to hot and snoozed in the shade just inside the door.
It amazes me how much Rusty and Coco have changed in the 2 months they've been us.
Rusty carries more scars but Coco has morphed into a completely different dog. Both have picked up weight. They will now eat with me not only standing near but actually touching their bowls. They don't run scared if I yell at someone to behave or leave the cats. They ask for attention and stand still to be picked up. Such brave little souls.

Ah that's lovely. I've got to admit to an especially soft spot for Bruno - the little cutie-pie.
Well done for your good work with Rusty and Coco; they must thank the day that you came into their lives.

Rusty & Coco have really come on well, haven't they? Amazing what some structure and TLC can do!

Re: We got to suntan yesterday.
They have improved so much. They used to be so scared and just ran if they doubted anything. They do both carry the scars of being abused but don't flee anymore. Coco will run around you, making me want to vomit, and Rusty stands jumping from foot to foot if unsure about my intentions.
Coco also acts on her own now and doesn't just blindly run after Rusty.
When they first arrived I couldn't get him to come in if I was standing near the gate or door; he'd just run off. Treats and/or pleading didn't help so I'd have to leave everything open and go into my room before he'd come into the house.
At my wits end I spent about 40 minutes outside, walking after him calling him to 'come'. He ran off so I closed the gate (others all inside) and walked after him, if he turned I'd cut him off so I was actually infront of him and he's walking after me. He'd turn and go off so I'd follow and cut him off again. Did it again and again till he stopped turning and kept walking after me with me calling him.
Now I go out call them inside and he walks happily after me into the house. He won't go in before me but will run down the stairs and come back in after me.
When they first arrived they also wouldn't eat if I was in view. They'd run and leave their food. Now they happily eat with me in the room, touching their bowls and/or feeding them by hand.
I wish I knew what the ***hole 'owners' did to these poor dogs.
The sweetest thing of all is that Rusty will now play tug of war with me, if none of the others are around. He'll also chase a ball if I throw it for him.

Awww, Theresa, that brought tears to my eyes. What on earth did those two poor dogs go through?

Best just to focus on giving them a good life now, I guess. Poor little things!
