We had budgies when I was a child. I remember Joey - a green budgie - who used to be let out of the cage at dinner time (unhygienic, or what?), and would sit on the edge of my dad's pudding plate and sip the custard!

I've also had a few budgies over the years, but could never get them finger-tame which is what I dearly wanted. Probably I was too impatient.
