Adoption fees - what do you think? Empty Adoption fees - what do you think?

I personally feel that the fees are a good idea. It isn't an outrageous price, usually around £100-£150, considering how much it costs to take proper care of a dog. Rescues operate on donations as well; the least we can do is reward them for taking such good care of our new dog beforehand.

We paid £99 for Chance's adoption fee which is probably one of the lowest fees about, but i agree with them, as long as they aren't ridiculous

Yeah, that's a good fee! Did his past affect the fee at all or was it just a general thing at the rescue?

Ah, okay. Guessing that the price for pups is higher because people tend to jump straight to them and ignore the older dogs.

I think that's a good idea! Puppies don't usually have much trouble finding homes, but the poor oldies do sad

Aww! sad

One of the many reasons why I want to foster dogs in the future - give the 'unwanteds' a comfortable home until/if they find their forever home. happy

It comes with its sad moments when you have to say goodbye to a dog, but it must be well worth its rewards!

I would love to rescue a dog, but I also like to bring a dog along from a young pup. Our problem is that our front door is on the first floor, and all the rescue centres round here won't even consider it!

It was upsetting at the time, but if they'd said yes, we wouldn't have Dempsey! Always a silver lining! happy

The only one that offered an explanation said that when the dog gets old it won't be able to manage the stairs! angry

Like we wouldn't find a way round that!

Tbh, if necessary, we'd do what we used to do with Dempsey when he was little - block off the stairs with a baby gate so that he couldn't go down and get stuck, then when he needs to use the stairs, lift him down gradually. Only takes a few minutes!
