There can be all sorts of dangers hidden from view in murky canals and rivers; as well as legitimate bank reinforcements some people see fit to use these waterways as rubbish dumps.

If I had a dog who enjoyed plunging into water, I think I would carry a short roll of crepe bandage with me, just in case.
