Just watched a video which left me seething

It's doing the rounds on Facebook. A toddler was playing with a cat, sprawling all over it, when the cat turned and scratched him. The parent (I'm assuming) holding the camera did nothing but continue filming. The child started crying and pushed the cat roughly away. The cat then bit the child's hand. Parent continued filming. The child, then bawling his eyes out hit the cat hard around the head. Parent did nothing. The cat then attacked the child, lunging at his head. Parent still did nothing but film the crying toddler as he fell off the bed, in pain.

        I am so furious right now!

I won't post the video, as it is very distressing to watch. That person shouldn't be a parent.

I'm speechless. Did the parent think it was funny, or what? Reminds me of that programme on TV (can't remember its name) where parents would film their little children falling over/being hit by something etc and post it for mass entertainment, despite the child's distress.

It's just sickening, isn't it? I didn't have the sound on, as I think it would have been even more distressing to hear it. I should imagine the parent was laughing away. I just couldn't get over that poor child's face.

Watched it again afterwards and the cat was laying across the child's face in the beginning, which I think first distressed the poor little boy. He looked to be about 2. The cat was pursuing him, biting his hands and feet, which obviously frightened and hurt him. The owner/parent is just disgusting.

Was it You've Been Framed? I hate seeing children cry. It isn't entertaining at all!

I think the video may have been taken down, as it isn't on my news feed anymore. It caught my eye when I noticed Tracey (Zetstaff) was commenting on it against some idiot who claimed that the child needed a slap for what happened.

The child was upset that the cat was on his face, but he seemed to get over that and start playing. Then the cat began to get defensive and started scratching/biting, the child started crying and yes, the woman filming was laughing. Even when the baby fell off the bed in tears.

I think it might have been You've Been Framed, yes. I never watched it, but my son had it on sometimes, fleetingly, and I was absolutely disgusted by what was obviously distressing to the young child was deemed as "funny".

I do hope that this particular video has been removed by YouTube.

It makes me very uncomfortable to see things like that. Especially when the child is hurt! You've Been Framed also includes similar videos with animals. I remember one clip of a bucking bronco horse, penned up in one of those enclosures that doesn't allow any sort of movement until the gate is opened. The horse panicked, reared and got his front legs caught in the metal fencing. To me, that screams danger from injury, not amusement.

Youtube still has it up. On Facebook, I think the person who uploaded it got cold feet and removed it.

OMG bucking broncos. I don't think that a lot of people who watch this "sport" realise that the reason why the broncos buck is because they have a strap tied tightly around their genitals/loins. If you watch after they have thrown their "rider" you will see that outriders release the tight strap which is tormenting the horse.

It's barbaric! I honestly don't see the sport in it - how can somebody watch that and laugh?

I didn't actually know about the strap. I can't wrap my head around the thought. What horrible, malicious person came up with the idea?

It's horrible, isn't it? Some commenters are even insisting that the cat was playing!

I think people assume that cats are harmless because they're smaller than dogs. Those people need to wise up.

That's the problem. Half a brain would be a blessing in these people's cases. They found it funny without thinking of how it could be cruel, then lashed out when other people called them out on it.

And people wonder why children get hurt by the house pet. Ignorant, stupid people.  

Exactly. I'm amazed that people are even pointing fingers at the child or the cat, when it should be obvious that the parent/owner is responsible.

Neither did I - I thought they were wild & just didn't like to be ridden.
