Digging - do your dogs do this? (with pics!)

We have a mulched area in our garden, where all the wildlife is. It has a sort of canopy of honeysuckle over the top and it's a lovely place to sit. It's quite hot and sunny today, so Demps decided he was going to tiptoe across the mulch, squish himself underneath the chair in an impossible position which required him to belly crawl and worm wiggle his way around, then dig a cool hole to lay in.

Who else's dogs dig?

Funnily enough Gus has just this minute had a little dig outside.

You have exactly the same garden bench as me.

It's a very old, very decrepit bench!!  

For some reason, I find it really funny when dogs dig!

I hope your bench is in better shape than ours! There are bird feeders on it, which means it's covered in poo!

Oh Kuchar digs. He tries to dig under the fences to escape to a better world (and succeeded once), he tries to dig down to Australia (that hasn't succeeded yet) and just digs for the hell of it.

He's a regular little terrier then!

Dempsey tries to bury things in the garden. He often digs the hole, then forgets why he did it and carries his prized object back into the house. He's never been one for escape digging though. I think he just enjoys kicking dirt everywhere!

The only place the boys dig is on our bed when dad won't get up, they try and dig him out. Well Harv always has done and chance has started copying

Dempsey does that when I lay on the floor with my hood up! He jumps around and tries to dig the hood!

Lovely pics of Dempsey   my two dig at the couch or bed to move things around to make it more comfortable. Bella does the hood thing as well if my daughter lies down with a hood up of a cover over her head   

I think it's funny to watch dogs trying to dig at something that really isn't going to work. Demps also digs up carpets so that he can bury himself underneath them!

He sometimes has a dig at the sofa as well, but we try to discourage that.

Oh I forgot to mention sofas! Kuchar has destroyed three in the 2 years we've had him   

  

Bella made a bit of a hole in my sofa when she was a pup. I was going to get a new one but I just hide that part under a few cushions    

Oh dear! I'm glad now that Demps has never done that!

Buster has destroyed one sofa by scratching a hole through the leather. Now we don't have leather and we constantly have covers on.

Yikes! Considering myself very lucky now!

Mine don't really dig without reason. Missy will dig to get at moles and that's about it.

You have sensible dogs then!

Luckily, Dempsey has rarely tried to dig things indoors, other than his bedding. He digs that into a pile at the front of his bed & then lays on the bare, hard floor!

Stupid dog.  

 

Plus of course, he then starts to rip the bedding up & eat it.....  

I think him and Chance would make great friends
