Bloody fleas.
My mother brought he dogs over about two weeks ago.
Since then mylo has them, and so does our house.
It's absolutely disgusting.
I've tried bleaching the house hoovering it. And we thought we had got rid of them.
But I just found one on Joseff's clothes.
Mylo isnt scratching. But I'll hose him down again.
Anyone know how to get rid of them? Mylo has never had them until she brought her dogs here.
With the baby I just want rid of them.

Oh, dear! Not nice!
We have a thread on fleas, if you'd like to take a look:
https://allbreedsdogforum.forumotion.co.uk/t114-fleas
I don't know how much it'll help.
The best thing to do, in my opinion, would be to either look into a natural treatment (diatomaceous earth, for instance, if you prefer not to use chemicals) or purchase a flea treatment from your vet. It's often best to avoid buying flea treatments from supermarkets, as these aren't always effective.

Re: Bloody fleas.
I had to end up getting treatment for the dogs and a spray to use around the house when my two got fleas. the flippin wee things can be quite determined. If I remember right (I have a terrible memory and could be wrong) I think I had to do two treatments to make sure they were completely gone and none were lurking around from eggs.

I'll take a look now.
They're horrible things aren't they?
I thought I got rid of them all by bleaching. Obviously not! Evil fleas!

Re: Bloody fleas.
Not always easy to get rid of, are they?
It might help if you try to find a flea treatment for Mylo which lasts for a while, so it kills off the next generation of fleas as well. I believe you can also get furniture and carpet treatment to kill off fleas and eggs.

They are evil
Eleanor I couldn't believe how difficult it was. Millie had fleas years ago, got treated once, they were gone. This last time with both dogs it seemed to be never ending. Just when I thought all was ok another flippin flea appeared

Re: Bloody fleas.
No they really aren't lol
We've got a good one now. He's never had them until now. He doesn't have them now because he's not itching and we can't see any in his fur.
I just saw one of Joseff's clothes and now I can't find it!
I think we may have to rehome mylo soon since having the baby I can't get out much, I'm in so much pain with broken bits here and there. Taking him out for a walk is too painful, my partner works too much so can't find the time to take him out. It's just not fair on pooch at the minute

Re: Bloody fleas.
Demps has only had a couple of infestations in his life - one large one and one very small. It was relatively easy to deal with, as he has a short coat, so we caught it quickly. I should imagine, with Mylo's lovely thick coat, it's probably a little more difficult to spot them!
Oh, dear! Is a dog walker not an option for you? Even if it's just a quick session each day, it can really help!

Yup, he's probably fluffier than a bear! Ah I think it's a bit unethical to shave a husky cross lol poor dab would freeze to death!
We can't afford one at the moment, I've had to quit work as i can't stand for more than 15 minutes without my legs going

Oh gosh, no, you couldn't shave him! Poor thing!
This must be really distressing for you. Do you have any family or friends who might be able to help out? You could also try any local colleges/universities which hold animal courses - some animal-study students will jump at the opportunity to gain some experience, dog walking for free.

Closest family is 50 minutes away
There's nothing like that where I live plus mylo is really strong and loves cats. He only listens to us to not chase them when on walks. Would hate for him to go missing

Re: Bloody fleas.
From the way you talk about him, it's obvious that you think the world of him. This must be such a horrible thing to even have to consider.
This is a bit of a shot in the dark and isn't really ideal, but would a dog treadmill help? It wouldn't be as good as a walk outside, but it might help to satisfy his need for physical exercise. For mental stimulation, you could supplement the treadmill work with training (nothing too strenuous for you) and interactive treat toys. Electronic treadmills can be expensive, but the ones that work manually, as the dog walks on them, seem to be more affordable!
When something like this happens, I think it's important to make sure that you're not being too hard on yourself. It isn't your fault that you're not well.

Re: Bloody fleas.
How about phoning a rescue centre to ask for advice? They might be able to give you a few ideas on how to deal with the situation!

Re: Bloody fleas.
Ref fleas:-
My previous dog, a Dobermann, somehow transported fleas home and they spread like wildfire, driving me mental. I got rid of them using the vet's advice which was to use spot-on Frontline on the dog, and spraying Frontline spray around the house (carpets especially where they met the walls in particular). Hint:- if you find one catch it firmly between your thumb and finger then release the flea under water in a sink and immediately rinse, rinse, rinse it away. This got rid of them pretty quickly and monthly applications of spot-on Front-Line kept them away thereafter.
Now I use spot-on Advocate on Kuchar and so far touch wood! no fleas, although he has thicker fur than the Dobermann.

Re: Bloody fleas.
Where I live there's this huge thing about dog fighting, it's sick. So many dogs are going missing then found horrendously bitten and attacked. Some are from dog rescue centres.
I'd rather him go to a loving home where I can check the house and meet the people a few times first.
I've got a outdoor kennel being made for him at the moment. Should be here beginning of November. We're going to re brick our walls and see if free garden roam helps first. If not we'll go from there

That's a shame, that some people feel justified in torturing animals.
I think your idea about the outdoor kennelling is a good one. I hope it helps!

Re: Bloody fleas.
It's sick it really is. I'm just thankful mylo barks as soon as someone comes near the back so they'd be too scared to go near him. Or he comes back in if he feels threatened.
Just need to make our garden wall higher as the neighbour has bought a new dog. And mylo had taken a fancy to her and jumps over to have a hump and jumps back. Good thing he's castrated aye

Shocking. The lengths people will go to for a profit and 'fun'... Bless - Mylo's a big lad, so they'd be taking a risk, I imagine!

Most probably. He's got an aggressive bark, but he wouldn't hurt a fly. Just likes to hump everything hahaha
