Caryll, if it's no better tomorrow give your doctor a call, just to be on the safe side. Hoping all is well

Re: Message from mum (Caryll)
It's still sore, but I can walk on it.
I have a physio appointment on Monday so I can mention it then. It's a shame, I was just starting to feel that I was starting to make progress.
Hey ho, it'll improve again.

Re: Message from mum (Caryll)
Well, for a while now I've thought that my knee was too stiff. I thought maybe I wasn't exercising enough, or doing the exercises wrong, but it seems I have scar tissue preventing proper flexation.
I'll have to go back in hospital to have the knee 'manipulated'. Yuk.
It's an overnight stay but it should get things moving properly.

Poor you! At least you know the cause, and they know how to fix it.

Hopefully it won't be too painful afterwards!
They forcefully bend the knee & then rig me up onto a machine to keep the knee moving for a while - passive something or other.

Re: Message from mum (Caryll)
Best to get it sorted now before the scar tissue thickens and sets.
It sounds something like what I went through at my physio sessions - it nipped at bit I won't deny, but well worth it as my knee was that bit more flexible after each "bending session".
They don't tell you about this sort of thing before the op do they?
You're a brave girl Caryll, you'll get through it! I'll be thinking of you

Not brave so much, Lynda, more stoical! There really isn't much else I can do.
I'm told it's quite sore afterwards, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it!

Re: Message from mum (Caryll)
I'm so very glad I was unconscious during the op - I could tolerate my knee being bent afterwards during physio but I just know I couldn't have borne hearing what you did.
Caryll - if you could bear hearing "them" hammering and chiselling at your knee then your stoicism goes beyond the bounds of bravery, and you can bear anything!

Re: Message from mum (Caryll)
It won't be as bad as what you went through before Caryll, and I'm sure your knee will be much freer afterwards. There will still be physio and exercises afterwards of course. It's a long haul, but worth it eventually.

The physiotherapist has already got the next appointment in hand, and the exercises will go on as per usual! No rest for the wicked!

Are you mad? Sit back, watch The Great Escape and let family cook the dinner while you've got a good excuse not to!

I'm still annoyed about that! Ages ago, you said I could cook Christmas dinner!
I'll fight you for it.

It's MY job!
But you can help - to be honest, there's so much to do that I think you might struggle on your own anyway.

Re: Message from mum (Caryll)
Well, my knee has been 'snapped' & I'm strapped on to a CPM machine (Continuous Passive Motion), watching my leg bend ip & down. Not TOO bad, but quite sore, especially at ful bend (80% at the moment, to be increased overnight to 90%).
Directly afterwards it hurt like hell, but a couple of codeine did the trick - didn't get rid of the pain, but definitely reduced it substantially!
Going home tomorrow.

Home!
Not a verypleasant night hooked up to a machine that bends your knee just beyond comfort, every 30 seconds all through the night!
Still, my knee is bending to about 90 degrees now, so hopefully it was worth it.
