This gorgeous little lady is Millie who is being fostered in Cardiff, South Wales. She is a Jack Russell terrier cross aged around 9 months old. A little bundle of cuteness just waiting to give a lucky owner lots of love. Eager to please and willing to learn, she has so many endearing little habits that you will quickly fall in love with her. She likes watching all animals and some people on TV. We haven’t worked out who her favourite is yet!

When she is pleased to see you her tail wags so much that her whole body wriggles. If she falls asleep on your lap or your feet you will hear the sweetest little snores – she’s a good foot warmer!

She loves to be covered in a blanket to go to sleep (although will sleep without one), and if you don’t cover her face she will tuck her head under it too so that she is all covered. Millie loves to play tug with other dogs or humans – sounding quite ferocious with her play growls! Sturdy toys will be needed – she has been known to help other dogs tear a teddy bear limb from limb and then sit with the stuffing all around her looking for the next thing to play with as if butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth! She will stop straight away, though, if you ask her – all part of owning a puppy!

She is very good with people and also with older children. She will listen to them and doesn’t jump up. Millie’s lead training is coming along well – she is really good for a puppy of her age. With just a little reminder she stops pulling, lets the lead go slack and walks by your side. She is quite excitable on first seeing another dog, especially when she is on the lead, this is an area in which she is progressing well but will require more training as you would expect with a puppy. She is now learning to stay calmer.

Further training will also be needed as she barks when she sees other dogs or a cat and will also bark at a sudden noise or at someone coming into the room. This is improving and after a couple of barks she will come when called and sit in her basket. She also barks at the hoover – this will settle with time and training.  We are looking for a cat-free home for Millie though. House-training is coming along very well too.

Millie has been left for about half an hour with other dogs out of her crate and about 2 ½ hours in the crate with chews and toys. She sleeps well in her crate all night. If she gets bored she will start playing with her blankets.  She is only destructive with toys if left in her crate for too long – this will improve as she settles.  Fencing will need to be secure as she can get through very small gaps in places that you may not have noticed. She loves sniffing around the garden but will come straight away when called. When she first arrived in foster she was a little dominant around food and toys but this has stopped. As she is still a bit worried about not getting food care will need to be taken in this area until she has settled.  She has not shown any aggression at all.

Mille loves a fuss from adults or children. She does jump a little but will sit as soon as she is reminded. The occasional nipping with excitement that you would expect from a puppy has virtually stopped.  She is good travelling in the car on the front seat on someone’s lap but is a little nervous of the boot area.  She loves human company and has been excellent with her foster mum’s 11 year old niece. She loved running with her, listened well and didn’t jump up.

As Millie is calmer when on her own without other dogs, she would best be rehomed as the only dog in the household. She is looking for a home that can continue with her training and giver her plenty of socialisation with both people and dogs. She is so willing to listen and wants to please – it won’t take her long to settle. She will soon become the loveliest little companion curled up on your lap or out on walks. She is a darling of a dog and real character who is just waiting to give lots of love and devotion.

Millie is up to date with her worming and flea treatments, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated. Prospective adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales.
