Re: The winner of Crufts is...
I was hoping for the Wolfhound or the Standard Poodle. Standard Poodle is one of my favourite breeds and the Irish Wolfhound was a stunner!
I know we're alike, but come on!

sorry sorry sorry
Thank you ELEANOR
In my defence, what remains of my brain cell was elsewhere (the previous topic I posted in) and my typing fingers went all squiddly-diddly.

am gutted the poodle won, really didn't like him or the handling, but knew he'd win before they even started.

Re: The winner of Crufts is...
I thought his movement was amazing! I was still hoping primarily for the Wolfhound though.

To each their own!
I wasn't a big fan of the Pomeranian, but that's probably because of the way they're shown - I like to see natural movement, rather than the front end being held up by the lead. He had character for a dog of his size, though, I guess.

Re: The winner of Crufts is...
Tbh, I thought the favourites were the Rottie and the Pom. I personally thought the Poodle was a very good example of the breed, though I still think the Wolfhound was better. I suppose the problem lies in the fact that each of those dogs were the best of their group - when it comes to picking a winner, personal favouritism is bound to slip into the equation.

Re: The winner of Crufts is...
Speaking to someone elsewhere who is/was there, poodle was the favourite ringside and was basically guaranteed to win, but to me the wolfhound or rottie should have taken it much much better handling and dogs overall

Re: The winner of Crufts is...
With the handling, I'd agree. The Wolfhound practically needed no handling at all, as his natural movement and posture was (in my opinion) perfect. I still think he stood out a mile above the rest. I only saw the handler correct his posture a couple of times and that was to make minor adjustments to his leg positions. His movement was very fluid for such a huge dog, as well. Rottie was lovely too, but I don't know the breed standard very well.
