You get fecal matter in everything and I think my dogs poop is cleaner than some random strangers.

Precisely! There are more bacteria on doorknobs, sponges, bath mats, toothbrushes and shoes! Not to mention the bacteria that comes out when you flush your toilet!

While it isn't technically true that dogs' tongues are cleaner than people's, the enzymes in their saliva is stronger, which probably makes them cleaner than a toilet!
