Chilli update.
Here's Chilli growing up.
She loves to snuggle with Jessup in the evening. At night, she sleeps by my head, my hand on her somewhere so she feels secure. During the day it's all playing with Tyson, biting him bum & face. Running & jumping after him. Really hard to get a pic. They are all just flashes infront of the lens.
And she yells her lungs out when I take her dogs away from her. I can see she'll be coming on walks with us when she is older.

Re: Chilli update.
She's so lovely till about 4am.
When she wakes us by jumping up to attack the wooden blind cords! Chilli... pssssst! Get off!
I think its funny, my OH... not so much!
I now have a water spray bottle on the bedside table.
It's the best game bar attacking my dogs... she runs & jumps at his trackie pants cord. Sometimes... she only gets close. She is only little...he is quite tall & large.... he is not impressed with her.

Re: Chilli update.
Im petrified. Her last vacc is due now....im trying to put it off as a wk later my OH wants her to be an outdoor cat. Not at night, only daylight hrs but.... oh god, all the what ifs?
The road, the unknown dogs, we have some damn BIG trees here, what if she cant get down? & SHE DOSENT HAVE A GPS!
I need to convince him she has to be a house cat till she is spayed. I dont want a pregnancy!
Think im more stressed as i age. I never worried with my other cats. They just went out.

Re: Chilli update.
She's becoming a lovely little 'lady'.
I kept mine indoors when I was at work till they were about 6 months. They'd have freedom when I was home. They're very careful when they're young and will come charging inside at the slightest noise. TBH if she's going to be an outdoor cat in the end, it'll be better to let her start exploring now while she's careful and you can supervise. She won't be able to get over fences but will learn that there are things behind them.
Unfortunately there are always dangers and we can't always keep them safe despite our best efforts and moving to the sticks.

Re: Chilli update.
She goes out now on lead, only on my land. She knows the fence is dangerous as dogs bark there. I hope & pray she is scared of the front yard but I am just not ready to set her free quite yet.
She has run out the back door a couple of times & just rolls over to play with dogs.

Re: Chilli update.
I think it depends very much on what you want for her in the long term. Like Theresa said, if she's allowed outside after her last vaccine, she'll be too little to get over the fences.
Are you going to have her microchipped? That might help to put your mind at ease.

Re: Chilli update.
Nooooooo! Shes 16wks now. A big kitten & she can climb like the clappers despite me cutting her nails.
She is so focused on the dogs, im hoping she will stick with them.
They will definitely protect her in the yard.
I had her microchipped a few wks ago. That was more painful for me than her as I held her down whilst she screamed.

Ah, quite big then! Either way, she'll probably venture out slowly first, exploring the garden.
Demps kicked up a fuss when he was microchipped as well. Heart breaking!

Re: Chilli update.
I do hope so.
I'm aware she knows both the security of the house & where the back door is.

You know, considering her attachment to her canine friends, she may not even want to stray far from them.

Females are less likely to roam but cats will roam.
Mine were pretty road smart as they learned to be scared of cars from a young age. A car would drive by while they're outside and ZOOOMMMM... they're in the house.

Re: Chilli update.
It is very stressful.
I can't have indoor cats as my house has to be open. I can't stand closed windows and doors and being kept prisoner.
I'll add her to my little morning prayer when I leave the house.

I'd actually really appreciate that. I'm not terribly religious but I do believe in a higher power than humans.
I've never had an indoor cat in my life..... Dont know why I'm so worried? I just am. Call it female intuition.
Chilli wont be on her own anytime soon.

Re: Chilli update.
I'm not a terribly religious person myself but I do try and cover my babies with some extra insurance.
My dad always said that you can loose nothing by believing but everything by not believing in some Higher power.
Off topic again
I'm probably more of an agnostic.

Re: Chilli update.
I always kiss everyone when I leave, no matter where I am.
(I know this will sound awful, but its not.) Last time I saw dad before he passed, he hugged me with a.... love you girl! As he squished me.
I am so glad he & I said we loved ea other. We both knew it but now....I say it to all my loved ones everytime I leave.

I say -
Bye, Soet wees, Lekker werk, moenie baklei nie.
Translated: Bye, Be good, Enjoy work and don't fight.
I also say goodnight to my mum every night with a Whatsapp message. We both then know the other is safely home.
