Poor Dempsey - again!
Dempsey has Gastro Enteritis & is at the vets overnight.
He became I'll on Tuesday - licking, swallowing air, trying to be sick but only bringing up froth. Took him to vet & they gave us a choice - go home with some medicine & see how he goes or let him stay overnight. We chose to take him home because he gets so stressed at the vets.
But he was still poorly yesterday & we took him back. They kept him in for blood tests & x rays, but all was clear so he came home last night.
However, today he hasn't improved at all so I phoned the vet again & they gave us an appointment for 8pm (they're open till 10pm, 7 days a week). They've kept him in for overnight intravenous hydration & antibiotics just to give his body a boost & a chance to recover. Felt terrible leaving him, but it's best for him, and the people there are really lovely and kind & like him a lot, so he's in good hands.
£600 so far, plus about £300/400 for the overnight treatment! Thank goodness for insurance.....

Re: Poor Dempsey - again!
The vets phoned me this morning. He's reasonably comfortable, but he has nasty bum gravy! They're trying to get him to eat some bland food, but he isn't interested at the moment. They're not worried about that, but they'll keep trying.
The vet will phone this afternoon when he's had a chance to check him over, so I won't know much more until then.

Re: Poor Dempsey - again!
He won't eat their non-poultry dog food so I've taken some of his normal food in & hopefully he'll eat that.
Unfortunately he has to stay in for another night.

Little bit weak, bless him. His tail's hardly stopped wagging though

Re: Poor Dempsey - again!
Being in hospital IS tiring, for so many reasons. It was necessary, but he sounds glad to be home and should be back to normal any minute soon!
Great news
