Dempsey's Kool Collar
First topic message reminder :
Dempsey's Kool Collar arrived a couple of days ago but the weather was atrocious so we couldn't use it.
However, it is really warm today & I took Dempsey on his favourite walk over Bradlaugh Fields. He came back very hot indeed, so I thought I'd give his collar a try. Within about 1-2 minutes he had stopped panting and was lying very comfortably indeed, so very impressed!
A big

If we got 1 I would not leave my bed! We do get minus temperature in some spots of SA but luckily not here. Some mornings we get a 4 degrees but that's also rare.

Nesh means someone who doesn't like the cold, or feels the cold really bad even if it's warm etc

I HATE being warm, I work outside most of the night and the coldest i remember it being of recent years was -16c in the middle of the night, but i really don't feel the cold and our heating is almost never on in the house

Maybe you have mutant power you don't know of.
I have to say that our houses in SA are built to be cool in summer so in winter they are cold. I have a huge open plan area with large windows and it's impossible to heat it. I cuddle in my bedroom and run to make some hot choc and jump back in bed during winter. Our houses very rarely have heating.
I have a oilfin heater for my bedroom, that's it.

Re: Dempsey's Kool Collar
I think the problem with (relatively) extreme cold or heat in England is because of our moist air (which the Atlantic is responsible for!) Damp cold is more miserable than dry cold, but at least you can wrap up against it or get immediate comfort from heaters etc.
Damp heat is definitely harder to deal with, as sweating gets you nowhere. I have felt more uncomfortable in 35 degrees C in England than I felt in 40+ degrees C in Greece in a heatwave, for example. (Although the Greeks that had to work in it suffered - the owner of our local taverna dropped dead whilst we were there ). It didn't seem to affect the stray dog that plagued us night and day though!

I don't wear coats at that temperature, but most people do! I prefer to be cold than hot.

I like storms - when I was a youngster (soooooo long ago!) I used to sit on the balcony & watch the lightning flashing over the rooftops in London. It could be quite spectacular!

A storm can often freshen the air - good!
Get caught in one - at best a soggy experience!
