Chilli is booked in.
First topic message reminder :
Chilli is going in on monday for her little op. Jess will come with us as she is due for her annual checkup & vacc + cartrophen. Tyson will be howling as his friends will be gone for, an hr for Jess or 8hrs for Chilli. Tyson is not happy when his dog or cat are taken away from him, & Chilli screams if she can't see her dogs, so I pitty the vet staff. It will be a loud day for them.
Con will be home when I take them, so.... sorry babe... but Tyson is going to be your problem!

And so good to hear that Jess, despite her great age and the nuisances that accompany great age, has been judged as very healthy - good on yer Jess

Re: Chilli is booked in.
Glad she ok, if having side effects from the drugs. Maybe they injected her with some liquid catnip?
Hope things are back to normal now.
Here our vets don't spay cats on their tummies anymore. They make a small incision just in front of the hip on the side. Supposedly it's less intrusive and easier on the cat.
Bubble will be spayed on her tummy else the vet needs to do a second cut to fix her break.

The side effects must be very confusing for an animal - they just don't understand.
Never mind Chilli, you'll be feeling better very soon!

Well.... you wont believe this! I was checking her wound this morning. Only 2 stitches left!! I said to Con, well, she hasn't ripped the skin, the wound is still closed & clean. There is no sign of irritation, it looks great, so I will just watch her. If it opens I'll take her back to be re stitched. But it is healing really well, I'm just going to leave it be for now.
I had literally just put her on the floor when the ph rang. (no one I know rings me that early (it was 9.02am), must be some idiot selling electricity or doing a damn poll.
It was the vet checking on how Chilli was recovering & if the Histamil had worked for jess's reaction to the cartrophen.

I think that is pretty much as she feels as shes been hiding under our bed & it really isn't high enough off the floor for her to be comfortable under anymore.

If the skin stays together for the first day she should be ok even if she rips all the stitches out. The skin should stick and the wound stay closed.

Re: Chilli is booked in.
She still has the first two stiches & the wound looks beautiful.
I think I will take the stiches out this weekend. The 6 day mark. She has healed beautifully.
But I can see they are annoying her. The skin is fused so if I take them out she should be more comfortable.

Re: Chilli is booked in.
Some vets pull the stitches to tight and the cat/dog find it very bothersome as it does pull at the skin flaps.

Re: Chilli is booked in.
I took the last 2 remaining stitches out tonight as she has slightly split the wound trying to chew them out. Put some paw paw ointment on her & within an hr she has settled into Jessies side for the night.
I will check again in the morn but I think she'll be fine now as 1 stitch was stuck to her skin & in the morning she should be feeling far more comfortable.
One stitch was good but one was quite tight so I think that was why she kept chewing at them all.

Re: Chilli is booked in.
They were obviously irritating her.
Some vets don't think of how the stitches can cause an animal to chew on them.
Glad she's doing so well!

Good to hear that Chilli is recovering and healing well. You'll have forgotten the whole thing very soon, little one!

Seems you are right Linda. She is tonight rough housing with Tyson as he steps on her, bowls her over to nuzzle her (in harsh staffy manner) as I tell him to be "gentle with the Chilli!" Her wound is still alittle swollen, but neither seem to care.

Sorry Lynda,
I hate this auto type feature! I type one spelling & it changes it to another.
It annoys me when people spell my name as Tracey as it is not my name so I make a point not to misspell other peoples names.
